Documents and service history

A clean-looking car is not the same as a well-maintained car. Service records, timing-belt evidence, invoices, NCT history, matching vehicle details and known recurring faults should all be considered alongside the physical inspection.

Important limitations

A non-destructive inspection cannot guarantee that every hidden, intermittent or future fault will be found. It is not a dismantling inspection, valuation, finance check or guarantee of the vehicle. Access, weather, road-test permission and the condition of the vehicle can limit what is verified.

The purpose is informed judgment. The inspection helps the buyer understand visible condition, immediate concerns and likely follow-up work before making a decision.

Before arranging the inspection

Ask the seller for permission, confirm the location, obtain the registration and vehicle details, and request any service-history documents in advance. Do not pay a non-refundable deposit based solely on photographs.
